Where it started
It all started back in 2006 when our parents, Steve and Colette, set up Furniture Traders, a family-run furniture shop, based right here in Thirsk, Yorkshire. Growing up, weekends were often spent in the shop, helping out on deliveries, and watching Dad chat to customers like they were old friends.

When we (Josh and Jake) finished our studies, stepping into the family business felt like the most natural path in the world. We officially joined in 2016 and 2020, bringing fresh energy and ideas while staying true to the values our parents built the business on. These days, Mum and Dad have taken a well-earned step back – although they're never far away, usually busy looking after our growing herd of Wilson boys and embracing their new favourite roles as Gigi and PopPop!

As we found our feet in the family business, we quickly realised we wanted to take things one step further. We wanted to create something of our own, something that carried the same dedication to quality and service that Furniture Traders was built on, but with our own stamp.
And just like that, The Yorkshire Mattress Co. began its journey. We set out to create a collection of handcrafted mattresses, made here in Yorkshire, using the finest materials, and built to last.
