Mattress care guide

At The Yorkshire Mattress Co., each mattress is expertly handmade using high-quality materials designed to stand the test of time. With the right care, your mattress will continue to provide the comfort and support you need, night after night. Read our comprehensive care guide below to ensure you get the most out of your

mattress for years to come.

Rotate and flip regularly

To help your mattress wear evenly, we recommend rotating and flipping every 3-6 months.

To rotate your mattress, turn it 180 degrees so that the head becomes the foot. Flipping means turning it over top to bottom, so you're sleeping on the opposite surface.

This, combined with rotation, extends its lifespan and keeps it comfortable.

Use a mattress protector

A breathable, washable mattress protector is one of the easiest ways to protect your mattress from spills, stains, and dust. It also helps keep allergens at bay and extends the lifespan of the mattress surface.

Let it breathe

When your mattress first arrives, give it a few hours to air out in a well-ventilated room. Over time, allow it to breathe by occasionally pulling back your bedding during the day - this helps moisture evaporate and keeps your mattress fresh.

Keep it supported

Ensure your mattress is placed on a sturdy, supportive bed base. An unsupportive base can affect the structure and comfort of your mattress.

Let it settle

New pocket sprung mattresses often feel firmer at first, this is completely normal. Give it a few weeks to settle and adapt to your body. If you’ve chosen a natural filling, slight body impressions are expected and are a sign of quality materials conforming to your shape. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
